Bhubaneswar, Aug 3: Odisha Vigilance on Saturday apprehended a Soil Conservation Overseer for demanding and accepting bribe from a complainant.
The accused has been identified as Sudhanshu Sekhar Rana, Soil Conservtation Officer in Ulunda Block under Subarnapur district.
Rana was caught red-handed while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 11,000 at Patabhadi Chowk from a complainant for facilitating release of final bill for completion of work under "Excavation of Farm Pond" scheme. The entire tainted bribe money has been recovered from the possession of accused and seized.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at two locations of Rana from DA angle.
In this connection, Sambalpur Vigilance PS Case No. 18 dt.02.08.2024 U/s 7 PC (Amendment)Act, 2018 has been registered. Investigation is in progress against accused.
