Bhubaneswar, August 3: A heavy sense of sorrow and tension hangs over Bayabar village in Odisha’s Puri district, a day after a 15-year-old girl succumbed to severe burn injuries at AIIMS Delhi.
On Sunday, the village wore a deserted look, with most residents remaining indoors, visibly shaken by the grim news. Security has been tightened near the girl's house, which falls under the jurisdiction of Balanaga police station. Local police have been deployed to maintain law and order.
It indicates that several family members of the deceased may have traveled to Delhi, where the postmortem is scheduled to be conducted. Neighbours noted that both the girl’s mother and her aunt, who were last seen at their Nuagopalpur bustee residence, have been untraceable since Saturday.
“The entire area is in shock. No one has words to express the grief,” said a neighbour, reflecting the village's collective silence and disbelief.
