Bhubaneswar, May 24: The Directorate of Horticulture, Odisha has exported over 130 quintals of mango from the state to Dubai and Italy this season in collaboration with Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA).
Over 70 quintals of Amrapali and Dasheri mangoes were shipped to Dubai and Italy via Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) on March 20 and 60 quintals earlier.
The Directorate of Horticulture has planned to export another 10 shipments of mango to abroad this season. The mango growers are getting Rs 20 per kg for Dasheri and Rs 25 for Amrapali, said director Gitashree Padhi.
Apart from mango, we have also shipped 2.5 quintals of bitter gourd and same quantity of ladies finger. There is also a demand for Odisha papaya in abroad, she added.
The Directorate of Horticulture has entered into a collaboration with the APEDA to revamp market linkage of farmer producer organisations (FPOs) in Odisha and tap global markets.
The directorate aims at facilitating the seamless integration of Odisha’s premium mango and fresh vegetables produce into international markets.
