Police bust terror module after controversial metro station signs
Law enforcement officials have dismantled a suspected terrorist network, apprehending eight individuals across two states following a major security breach in the national capital. This swift crackdown occurred shortly after intelligence agencies warned of a potential Lashkar-e-Toiba strike near Delhi's Red Fort. Investigators trace the breakthrough back to provocative Free Kashmir posters plastered across several metro stations during the recent AI Summit.
Detectives from the Delhi Police Special Cell collaborated closely with regional forces to track down the alleged culprits. Six of these men—identified as Ujjal, Shahid, Litan, Umar, Mizanur Rahman, and Mohammad Shabat—were hiding in plain sight. They worked inside three separate Tamil Nadu garment factories. A coordinated weekend raid successfully cornered them in the Uthukuli, Palladam, and Thirumuruganpoondi neighbourhoods of Tiruppur.
Officials report that most of the arrested group are Bangladeshi terror suspects. Years ago, they illicitly crossed the border into West Bengal before eventually migrating south for work. To blend into local communities, the suspects reportedly relied on fabricated Aadhaar cards.
Once the metro station signs sparked an investigation, authorities meticulously monitored various online platforms to pinpoint the culprits' locations. Digital footprint analysis revealed a stream of messages originating from Tiruppur that openly supported banned extremist organizations. Following their escape from Delhi, the men maintained active communications via encrypted chat applications.
Seizing the suspects' mobile devices provided crucial leads that triggered further action. Detectives discovered ongoing conversations with two additional operatives based in West Bengal, prompting another successful raid later that same night. During these operations, police confiscated over 16 SIM cards used to coordinate their activities across state lines.
Currently, all eight detainees are undergoing intense interrogation back in New Delhi. Early findings strongly suggest deep-rooted connections with both Pakistan’s ISI intelligence agency and various extremist factions operating out of Bangladesh. As investigations deepen, security forces remain vigilant against any remaining threats to public safety.
