Bhubaneswar, June 8:  Seven devotees have sustained minor burn injuries at the Jagannath Temple in Puri on Sunday after hot dal (lentil soup) accidentally spilled on them, officials confirmed.

The mishap occurred in the afternoon when a temple staff member, tasked with carrying the hot dal after it was offered to the deities, unintentionally spilled it onto the crowd. All seven injured devotees are from Nayagarh district.

They were promptly taken to the emergency health centre located near the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) office for immediate treatment.
