Odisha: Schools in Balangir dist to remain closed today

Balangir, Sept 14: In view of heavy rainfall, Balangir district administration declared a holiday for all schools and Anganwadi centres in the district for today.

“In view of heavy to very heavy rainfall and Orange warning up to 08.30 AM of 15.09.2023 as issued by IMD and Office of the Special Relief Commissioner, Odisha for Balangir District, all Govt. and Private Schools and Anganwadi Centers (AWCs) shall remain closed today on Dt. 14.09.2023,” an office order issued by the office of the District Collector said.

Notably, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that several districts of Odisha are likely to experience heavy rainfall today under the influence of the low-pressure area.

The Weather department has issued Orange and Yellow warnings for heavy rain in several districts of Odisha today.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 cm to 20 cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places in Kalahandi, Nuapada, Bolangir, Bargarh, Kandhamal, Boudh, Sonepur, Sambalpur, Nabarangpur, and Ganjam districts today, predicted the Met department and sounded Orange warning for these districts.

Similarly, the weather department has forecasted heavy rainfall (7 cm to 11 cm) at one or two places in Nayagarh, Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Gajapati, Cuttack, and Angul districts and issued Yellow warning for these districts.
