Rourkela, Feb 21: The Odisha government has sanctioned Rs 660 crore for the facelift of Rourkela Government Hospital (RGH).

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will lay foundation stone of a 10-story building on March 2 in virtual mode.

Besides, the total number of beds of the hospital will be increased to 800 with addition of 400 new beds to the existing 400 beds.

Post Graduation courses have commenced in the hospital in ophthalmology, anaesthesia and gynaecology and obstetrics. PG hostel and staff quarters will be constructed under the project for this. Besides, some new departments will be opened under the project.

Notably, around 500 patients visit the hospital daily from Sundargarh district and its adjoining districts along with neighbouring states. Patients face problems due to lack of beds and the hospital administration refers patients to other healthcare facilities due to absence of several departments.
