Odisha: Revenue Inspector killed, six injured as car crashes into tree in Angul

Angul, Oct 1: In a tragic incident, a Revenue Inspector (RI) was killed and six others sustained injuries after the car they were travelling in crashed into a tree in Hindol area of Odisha’s Angul district on Wednesday.

The deceased has been identified as RI Mrityunjay Panigrahi.

As per reports, the mishap took place near Serenabeda village under Hindol police limits when a car carrying family members of two Revenue Inspectors (RIs) went out of control and crashed into a tree. The family was returning from the Maa Taratarini temple in Berhampur at the time.

Under the impact of the crash, Mrityunjay sustained grievous injuries and succumbed while being shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack in his critical condition. His wife, Debasmita Dixit, and their three-month-old daughter sustained serious injuries in the accident.

Others injured in the crash include Suprakash Sethy, his wife Sujata Sethy, Manu Sethy, and Swastik Sethy. All the injured are currently receiving treatment at the District Headquarters Hospital in Angul.

Upon getting the information, police arrived at the scene and took stock of the situation. The cops also seized the deceased’s body and sent it for post-mortem.

Further investigation into the matter is underway.
