Shallow to Moderate Fog Predicted for Coastal and Interior Districts

Bhubaneswar: Residents across Odisha experienced a mix of chill and dry conditions today as the Regional Meteorological Centre released its latest bulletin. While dry weather prevailed over all districts, significant drops in mercury were recorded in the interior pockets of the state.

Cold Conditions Grip Interior Odisha

Winter chill remains distinct in the high-altitude regions. G. Udayagiri emerged as the coldest spot in the state today, recording a shivering minimum temperature of 5.8°C. In the plains, Phulbani recorded the lowest minimum temperature at 9.0°C.

On the other end of the spectrum, Jharsuguda recorded the highest maximum temperature in the state at 32.5°C. The twin cities also saw moderate winter conditions; Bhubaneswar recorded a maximum of 31.6°C and a minimum of 13.2°C, while Cuttack registered 28.6°C and 12.8°C respectively.

Forecast: No Major Changes Expected

Looking ahead, the IMD Bhubaneswar forecast suggests stability. There will be no large change in the Minimum Temperature (Night temperature) over the districts of Odisha during the next 4 to 5 days. Furthermore, the rainfall forecast indicates that dry weather will continue for the next week (Day-1 to Day-7) with no specific severe weather warnings issued.

Fog Warning for Commuters

While rainfall is not on the cards, visibility might be an issue for early morning commuters. The weather department has issued a forecast for shallow to moderate fog over the coming days:

  • January 22 (Day 1 & 2): Fog is very likely in isolated pockets of Puri, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, and Kandhamal. This extends to Khordha, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Nayagarh, and Jagatsinghpur by the next morning.
  • January 23-25 (Day 3 & 4): Commuters in Bhadrak, Kendrapada, and Jagatsinghpur should expect foggy conditions.
  • January 26 (Day 5): The trend continues for Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Puri, Khordha, and Jagatsinghpur.

Residents are advised to drive carefully during early hours in these specific districts. Overall, the state can expect a dry and pleasant week ahead with consistent night temperatures.
