Cuttack, Mar 22: Special Judge, Vigilance, Cuttack on Friday convicted a retired Revenue Inspector for demanding and accepting bribe from a complainant.
The accused who has been identified as Subash Chandra Das was earlier chargesheeted by Odisha Vigilance for demanding and accepting bribe Rs.8, 000 from a complainant to submit verification report for issuance of RoR (Land Patta) in his favour in a mutation case.
For this offence, the Court has sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 2 year and fine of Rs.10,000 and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 6 months more.
Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority for stoppage of pension of the retired RI following his conviction
