BCCI has decided on the neutral venues for India-Pakistan clash

Preparations are moving fast for the T20 World Cup 2026 as India and Sri Lanka will co-host this major event. The biggest piece of cricket news right now is about the final match. Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium has been shortlisted to host the grand finale.

Top BCCI officials have finalized these key details ahead of the official ICC schedule release. The tournament is expected to start in early 2026. The board has chosen a different strategy for venues this time around, fewer cities will host matches compared to the 2023 World Cup. However, each selected venue will get to host at least six games.

The BCCI has currently shortlisted five major Indian cities. These include Ahmedabad, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, and Mumbai. Venues that hosted the recent Women’s ODI World Cup will not be considered for this tournament, still unclear if Bengaluru or Lucknow will get any matches.

A major update concerns the highly anticipated India vs Pakistan match: On this BCCI has decided matches between India and Pakistan will be played in Colombo, Sri Lanka. This follows an agreement that the two teams will only play each other on neutral soil.

The ICC has also set some important conditions for the schedule. If Sri Lanka reaches the semi-finals, they will play that match in Colombo. Furthermore, if Pakistan makes it to the final, the match will be moved from Ahmedabad to a neutral venue.
