Puri, July 13: An employee of Odisha Raj Bhavan has alleged assault by Governor Raghubar Das’ son Lalit Kumar and other six people on the night of July 7 in Puri. A complaint has been registered in the matter at the Sea Beach Police Station.
The complainant Baikuntha Pradhan, an assistant section officer of Parliamentary Affairs Department who is currently working at Governor's Household on a deployment basis, had earlier wrote to the Governor explaining him about the incident.
Pradhan has alleged that being the In-Charge of Raj Bhavan, Puri, he was there since July 5 to supervise the preparedness of Puri Raj Bhavan, for visit/stay of President Droupadi Murmu on July 7 and 8.
However, on July 7 night at around 1.45 PM, when he was sitting in the office room, Aakash Singh (Personal Cook of Governor) came to the office and told him that Governor’s son Lalit Kumar wanted to meet him immediately. When he came with Aakash Singh to meet Lalit Kumar at Suite No-4, the latter started scolding him using slangs, the complainant said.
“When I objected to such humiliation, they started slapping me. Feeling helpless, I started running out of the room and hid behind the Annex building. However, the two PSOs of Lalit Kumar could find out my location and dragged me to Room No. 4 through the lift. Security Personnel and others present there have witnessed this incident. They again started slapping, blowing punches on my face, kicking every part of my body and twisting my left ankle", Pradhan complained.
He further alleged that Lalit Kumar threatened him saying that if they murdered me, nobody could save me, neither the Comptroller nor anybody else.
