Cuttack, November 23: A group of six-seven robbers held the family hostage at gunpoint and looted their house late last night in Hatiapalli village under Kanpur police station of Cuttack district. The armed miscreants broke into the house looting Rs 18 lakh in cash and gold ornaments.

The robbery took place late on Saturday night when criminals, forcibly entered one Kailash Chandra Prusty’s house by breaking through window. They held Kailash and his wife at gunpoint, and threatened to kill them if they resisted. Later, they managed to decamp with Rs 18 lakh in cash and other valuables.

Upon receiving the complaint, Kanpur police rushed to the spot and launched an investigation. Police officials are also reviewing CCTV footage to get clue.

“We will take the help of dog squad. The culprits will be arrested soon,” said Kanpur police station OIC Tapan Nayak.
