Odisha: Polling agent dies while on duty at Dhenkanal polling booth

Dhenkanal, May 25: In a tragic incident, a polling agent succumbed in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district during the third phase election in the state on Saturday.

The deceased has been identified as Sukadeba Nayak. Nayak was deployed as a polling agent of BJP at Booth No. 136 at Bahalunda village in Nuabaga Panchayat under Hindol Assembly Constituency in Dhenkanal district.

According to the reports, Sukadeba fell unconcious during the polling at the booth. He was immidiately rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.

However, the exact reason of his death is yet to be ascertained.

Worth mentioning, an elderly woman, identified as Kumudini Dalei from Patharpunji village in Odisha's Nayagarh district, reportedly passed away while waiting to cast her vote in Bhapur block on Saturday. Although the exact cause of her death is still under investigation, it is suspected to be heatstroke-related
