Bhubaneswar, Aug 7: A three-day training for officers of Cyber Cell on “Tools and Techniques for Investigating Cyber Crimes against Children” is being organized by the Crime Branch in collaboration with the UNICEF from Monday in two phases at Cyber Complex, Crime Branch, Bhubaneswar.

As many as 34 police officers of the rank of SI and above from various police districts have attended the first phase training programme. In the second phase, 38 officers of the same rank from the remaining police districts of Odisha would be attending the training from August 10 to August 12.

As cybercrime is increasing rapidly, the prime objective of this training is to equip police officers with the knowledge and skill in cybercrime investigation. Further, an increasing trend of online abuse against children and women has been noticed. This calls for specialized training and the utilization of different kinds of tools and techniques to handle such cyber offences. 

This training programme will be covering issues like the evolving nature of cyber crimes, technical skills, digital forensics, legal issues, collaboration and information sharing with other agencies, victim support and empathy.

The training programme was today inaugurated by Police DG Sunil Kumar Bansal. As the Chief Guest of the programme, he expressed his happiness with the response of officers attending the training. He advised them to be fully attentive while listening to the resource persons who have got vast and pragmatic knowledge to resolve critical cyber crimes. DGP said that the officers attending these trainings, in due course, can lead cyber teams in their respective districts.

Arun Bothra, ADGP, Crime thanked the DGP for approving extra manpower and financial resources for the Cyber Wing under CID-CB. He informed that the Cyber Complex, Bhubaneswar will be fully operational soon. He also invited the trainees to make use of the talent and expertise of the resource persons as such programmes are occasional and precious.
