Cuttack, Ap 2: Odisha Police marked its 91st Foundation Day in Cuttack with a grand ceremonial parade and the presentation of awards to honour the dedicated service of its officers and personnel. The event, held at the Reserve Police Ground in Buxibazar, was graced by Director General of Police (DGP) Yogesh Bahadur Khurania, who attended as the chief guest.

The DGP saluted the parade and paid tribute to the martyred policemen, reaffirming the force's commitment to ensuring a safe, peaceful, and drug-free Odisha under the guiding motto of “Service and Security.” He also highlighted the significant achievements of Odisha Police in maintaining law and order and combating various forms of crime across the state.

In his address, DGP Khurania shed light on the Odisha Police's success in tackling the Maoist insurgency, noting that 27 extremists had been neutralised since 2025 and 72 others had returned to the mainstream, thanks to the government's surrender and rehabilitation program.

He further praised the force's efforts against cybercrime, particularly through "Operation Cyber Kabach," which scrutinised 39,714 suspicious bank accounts, registered 1,422 new cases, and resulted in 379 arrests. On the anti-narcotics front, Odisha Police had seized contraband worth over ₹3,000 crore, destroyed illegal cultivation across 48,160 acres, and arrested 654 interstate traffickers, showcasing its commitment to combating the drug menace.

Khurania also applauded the swift investigations carried out under the newly introduced Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which allowed for the resolution of cases in as little as 19 to 40 days, ensuring speedy justice. Additionally, he celebrated the success of Odisha Police athletes, who excelled in national competitions and set new records.

The ceremony was a momentous occasion to recognise the bravery, merit, and dedication of Odisha Police personnel. Awards were presented for exceptional bravery, merit scholarships, and the best-performing battalions, family welfare centres, and parade teams. Messages of congratulations were read out from both the Governor and the Chief Minister, reinforcing their support and appreciation for the police force.

The 91st Foundation Day of Odisha Police highlighted the force's resilience, legacy of service, and modernisation while recognising the tireless efforts of its personnel in ensuring public safety and security across the state.
