Bhubaneswar, June 7: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Odisha, led by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, is preparing to mark its first year in office with a series of elaborate celebrations beginning this week. The festivities will include cultural programmes, high-profile gatherings, and a major state-level event scheduled for June 20 in Bhubaneswar.
Initially slated for June 12, the mega anniversary function has been rescheduled to June 20 to accommodate Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is expected to attend, according to BJP sources. A key highlight of the event will be the unveiling of a vision document detailing the government’s roadmap for Odisha’s development.
As part of the build-up to the main function, the government has lined up a series of events across the state:
- Exclusive dinners hosted by the Chief Minister for corporate leaders, civil society representatives, lawmakers, and media professionals.
- A mass outreach campaign showcasing the achievements of the Majhi government.
- A 5-minute theme song and a 25-minute thematic documentary will narrate the government’s key milestones.
To boost public awareness, specially branded information vans will travel across all 314 blocks of the state from June 5 to 19, highlighting flagship schemes, governance reforms, and public service delivery.
A series of thematic events will also be held at various locations:
- June 13: Women’s conference in Cuttack
- June 18: Farmers' convention in Bolangir
- June 19: Tribal-focused programme in Mayurbhanj
- June 21: Youth-centric event in Berhampur
In addition, the government’s monthly publication Pragati Prabaha will feature success stories on themes such as women empowerment, agriculture, industry, Odia identity, governance, health, education, infrastructure, and sports.
The tourism department will also use this occasion to showcase Odisha’s progress, with promotional content to be featured in in-flight magazines and displayed at major airports during the upcoming Rath Yatra.
