Bhubaneswar, Oct 14: A PhD scholar of Berhampur University in Odisha died reportedly of dengue on Friday.
The deceased has been identified as Rajat Patel (30), a resident of Balangir town.
As per reports, Rajat was diagnosed with dengue at Berhampur a few days ago. He was then admitted to Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital at Balangir yesterday.
Later, he was shifted to a private hospital at Bargarh after his health condition deteriorated. However, he breathed his last while undergoing treatment at around 4 pm yesterday, sources said.
Notably, Rajat was pursuing PhD in Zoology in Berhampur University. He had also qualified for the post of Assistant Professor in a recruitment examination conducted by the Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) recently.
