Berhampur, July 17: At least one person was killed and eight others sustained injuries after the car they were travelling in overturned on National Highway 16 near Narayani Square in Odisha’s Ganjam district in the wee hours of Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as Narasimha Reddy.
As per reports, a total of 12 members of a family including five minors had visited the Tarini temple in Ghatgaon and were on their way back from Puri, where they had gone to have darshan at the Jagannath temple.
While heading towards Berhampur, their car lost control and flipped over four times on the highway resulting in the death of one person and injuring eight others.
The injured were rushed to the Khallikote Community Health Centre (CHC) by an 108 ambulance. After getting primary treatment, two children and two adults were transferred to MKCG Medical College in Berhampur after their health condition deteriorated.
Upon getting the information, police arrived at the hospital and seized the deceased’s body. Subsequently, it was sent for post-mortem.
Further investigation into the matter was underway.
