Bhubaneswar, Aug 7: In a shocking incident, Rairangpur MLA Naba Charan Majhi’s niece allegedly committed suicide at his quarters under Kharavela Nagar police limits in Bhubaneswar Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Bidiya Marndi. She was a +2 second year Arts student of Deba Ray (D.R) College in the city and was staying at the quarters with her uncle and brother since last year.
As per reports, Bidiya went to her room last night after completing her studies and slept. However, when her brother knocked on the door this morning, she did not respond.

Suspecting some foul play, he informed the MLA about it and later alerted the cops.
On getting the information, police rushed to the spot and broke open the door. Bidiya was found hanging from a ceiling fan with a dupatta.
The cops brought the body down and sent it for post-mortem to the Capital Hospital.
The exact reason behind the extreme step of the girl is yet to be ascertained.
Further investigation into the matter is underway.
