Odisha: Minor siblings die of snake bite in Sundargarh

Sundargarh, Aug 26: In a tragic incident, two minor siblings died after being bitten by a venomous snake in Chandiposh area of Odisha’s Sundargarh district late last night.
The deceased have been identified as 6-year-old Evam Lakra and his 7-year-old sister Evelina Lakra.
As per reports, the incident took place at Jhirpani village in Tamada panchayat under Chandiposh police limits in the district when a venomous snake entered the house and bit the children while they were asleep after dinner.
Later, the family members found the children in an unresponsive state and immediately rushed them to Rourkela Government Hospital in critical condition. Unfortunately, the attending doctors declared both of them dead on arrival.
Upon receiving the information, Chandiposh police arrived at the spot and seized the bodies. Subsequently, they were sent for post-mortem.
A case has been registered and further investigation into the incident is underway, said the police.
The untimely deaths of the two young children have cast a pall of gloom over the entire village.
