Konark, Feb 19: In a ghastly incident, a minor girl in Konark area of Odisha’s Puri district allegedly committed suicide after being sexually harassed by her father.
As per reports, the girl’s mother found her hanging from the ceiling of their house on Saturday night and rushed her to Gop Community Health Centre (CHC). However, the attending doctors declared her dead.
Sources said that the girl’s father had been exploiting her sexually from the last few days. His wife had also warned him in this regard, but of no use.
It is suspected that the girl ended her life after being unable to bear the physical and mental torture.
On getting the information, Konark police arrived at the spot and seized the body. Subsequently, it was sent for post-mortem.
The accused is currently absconding.
Family members of the deceased are yet to lodge a formal complaint in this regard. However, we have registered an unnatural death case and launched a probe into the matter, said the police.
