Cuttack, August 20: Cuttack police arrested a 16-year-old minor boy for allegedly raping and impregnating a 15-year-old minor girl.
The incident came to light after the minor girl complained of frequent stomach pain last week. When her family members consulted a doctor on Saturday, she was referred for ultrasound test. The ultrasound report revealed that there was an eight-month-old dead foetus in her womb following which the attending doctor informed the police.
When police counselled with the minor girl of a slum under Daragha Bazaar police zone, she revealed that a boy of her slum had raped her.
Police registered a case and recorded her statement in a local court. Later, the dead foetus was removed from her womb following court order.
Police arrested the accused and conducted his medical examination. Since the accused is a minor, he was produced before the Juvenile Justice Board.
Later he was sent to a reformation centre in Angul district following direction of the Juvenile Justice Board.
