Jharsuguda, Sept 14: With a significant lead to Odisha Minister Naba Das' murder case, the Crime Branch of Odisha Police on Thursday framed charges against the accused, Police ASI Gopal Das.
Sources said,accused Gopal Das was produced in Jharsuguda Additional District and Sessions Court in the afternoon. Hearing of a discharge petition filed by the accused was scheduled today. However, the discharge petition was rejected by the Court.
Earlier on May 26, the Odisha Crime Branch had submitted a 540-page charge sheet in the JMFC Court against the sacked ASI Gopal Das in connection with the murder of former minister Naba Das.
A two-member team of Crime Branch with the leadership of DSP Ramesh Dora, reached Jharsuguda on Thursday and submitted the final 543-page charge sheet in the JMFC court on Friday.
Worth mentioning, ASI Gopal Krishna Das (53) allegedly shot the then health minister Odisha, Naba Kishore Das on January 29. The mystery, why an ASI killed a potential minister, is yet to be unveiled.
