Bhubaneswar: Hockey Association of Odisha and Hockey Unit Of Tamil Nadu will face Hockey Maharashtra and Hockey Chandigarh in the men’s category semifinals respectively on Wednesday. Similarly, in the women’s category semifinals, Hockey Association of Odisha and Hockey Haryana took on the Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu and Hockey Punjab respectively on Thursday of the 1st Hockey India Masters Cup 2025 at the Mayor Radhakrishnan Hockey Stadium in Chennai.
In the women’s quarter-final match, Hockey Association of Odisha defeated Kerala Hockey 10-0. Sarita Lakra (14’, 32’, 36’, 46’, 50’) stood out to be the top goal scorer after scoring five goals in the match. Pratima Ekka (11’) scored one goal while Minz Sarita Roshan (23’, 26’, 43’) netted a hat-trick to strengthen their position in the game. Captain Lucela Ekka (8’) also scored one goal to take the total of the goals scored in double digits, convincingly securing their berth in the Semi-Finals.
Earlier, Hockey Association of Odisha cruised into the Semi-Finals with a commanding 6-2 victory over Hockey Andhra Pradesh. Odisha captain Barla Lajrus (5’, 36’) led from the front with a brace—first converting a penalty stroke and then a penalty corner. Santiel Mundu (10’) and Cyprian Kerketta (21’) added to the tally, while Anil Kullu (51’, 59’) netted twice late in the game to seal the win. Andhra Pradesh responded through goals from Deepak Akash Bachu (7’) and Manchala Ajay Babu (30’), but it wasn’t enough to avoid elimination.
