Odisha: Medical Officer convicted in bribery case, gets 3 years RI

Angul, Mar 28: Nisith Nisanth Malu, Former Block Public Health Officer, I/C CHC Phiringia in Kandhamal district, , at present Medical Officer (MO) Sub-Divisional Hospital of Talcher in Angul district has been convicted by Special Judge Vigilance, Phulbani for demanding and accepting bribe from a complainant.

According to the report, Malu was earlier charge sheeted by Odisha Vigilance  in a case vide Berhampur Vigilance PS case No.7 dt.30.03.2021 U/s 7 PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 for demanding and taking bribe of Rs.7,000 from a Multi-Purpose Health Worker (Male)  for passing his RCM and TA Bills.

For the offence, he has been sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 3 years and to pay fine.

Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority for dismissal of Doctor Nisith Nisanth Malu, Medical Officer, Sub-Divisional Hospital, Talcher, Dist-Anugul from service following his conviction.
