Bhubaneswar, Dec 10: High drama unfolded during a wedding ceremony at the Dula Devi temple in Balakati on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar on Sunday.
Jogesh Hati, a resident of Chandrama Patapur under Jankia Police limits in Khordha district, faced a brutal thrashing from his wife and her family members, allegedly during his attempt at a second marriage. Subsequently, the man was handed over to the police.
As per reports, Jogesh had previously married Ahalaya Hati of Ganeswarpur under Erasama block of Jagatsinghpur in 2010, and the couple had two daughters. Their marital life proceeded smoothly until Jogesh purportedly developed feelings for another woman, causing a significant strain in their relationship.
In secrecy, Jogesh arranged his second marriage at the Dula Devi temple on Sunday. However, his wife discovered the plan and swiftly arrived at the scene with her two daughters and relatives. They subjected Jogesh to severe physical assault. Exploiting the chaos, the woman whom Jogesh intended to marry reportedly managed to escape.
Upon receiving information, Balianta police intervened promptly, detaining Jogesh to address the situation.
