Puri, May 25: A man allegedly bludgeoned his wife to death reportedly over the suspicion of an extra-marital affair in Gop locality of Odisha’s Puri district.
The deceased has been identified as Kalpana Sahoo and the incident has been reported from Durgapur village of Sorabha panchayat under Gop police limits.
As per reports, there were regular quarrels between the accused, identified as Debaraj Sahoo (38) of the village, and his wife Kalpana as he suspected her of having extramarital affair with another youth.
However, Debaraj found Kalpana in a compromised position with her paramour last night. Following this, a heated exchange of words ensued between the duo. It later took an ugly turn when an enraged Debaraj attacked Kalpana with a pestle.
As a result, she sustained critical injuries and died on the spot.
Upon getting the information, police arrived at the spot and seized the body. Later, it was sent for post-mortem. The cops have arrested Debaraj and are interrogating him.
Further investigation into the matter is underway.
