Bhubaneswar, August 7: Odisha and Madhya Pradesh Governments on Saturday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen regional cooperation for clean energy transition.

The MoU was signed at the 7th CII International Energy Conference & Exhibition in New Delhi in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Energy Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo.

“In a major step toward expanding India's clean energy footprint and fostering inter-state cooperation, the Energy Department, Government of Odisha, and the New and Renewable Energy Department, Government of Madhya Pradesh (MPNRED), today signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at New Delhi,” said an official release.

The strategic agreement establishes a comprehensive framework for mutual cooperation, technology transfer, collaborative research and development, and knowledge sharing in renewable energy development, energy efficiency, and conservation measures, it said.

Speaking on the occasion the Deputy CM said, “This historic partnership marks a monumental milestone in strengthening regional cooperation for clean energy transition."

“By uniting the strategic vision and resources of Odisha and Madhya Pradesh, we are setting a strong benchmark for sustainable development, innovation, and resilient energy infrastructure that will accelerate India's green growth trajectory,” said Singh Deo.

Under the terms of the agreement, both State departments will actively collaborate across key priority areas, including the joint promotion of solar, wind, and hybrid clean power technologies to meet growing regional demands.

The partnership also focuses on establishing dedicated technical exchange channels for policy design, regulatory practices, and grid integration strategies, as well as launching collaborative R&D projects in energy storage and green hydrogen.

By pooling their unique strengths - Odisha's expanding industrial base and Madhya Pradesh's large-scale clean energy infrastructure - both states aim to lower clean technology deployment costs, enhance grid reliability, and drive sustainable economic growth.
