Bhubaneswar, April 1: The Odisha government has transferred officers posted in their home districts as well as those who have served in a particular place for a considerably long period following the direction of the Election Commission of India (ECI) in view of the ensuing general elections.
However, many officials of Odisha Police, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation, Cuttack Municipal Corporation (BMC) and Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) have remained in the same place of posting after their transfer
According to reports, a senior official of BDA was transferred to Cuttack Development Authority (CDA). However, he did not join the assigned workplace. Later, he joined Odisha Mining Corporation office located in the capital city. Now he is working as Officer on Special Duty at Baramunda bus stand to return further to BDA after the elections are over.
Some police officials of the twin city Commissionerate Police were transferred to the headquarters in Cuttack. However, they are not leaving the Commissionerate Police headquarters here in the city.
Similarly, many police officials have been transferred to the nearby police stations, crime branch and special branch office in the city.
Some OAS officers have been transferred to other departments within the Secretariat.
Odisha state unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has alleged that as many as eight police officials in the Bhubaneswar Parliamentary constituency had remained in the same place of posting for over 10 years and have not been transferred, which is a gross violation of the Election Commission of India (ECI) guidelines.
The party also alleged that several other officials have been working for years in other districts of the state and demanded the immediate transfer of these officials ahead of the elections.
