Bhubaneswar, Dec 30: More hot days are likely to be experienced in the next summer as compared to 2023, said weather expert Surendranath Pashupalak attributing the cause to EI Nino effect and climate change since 1980.

The effect of 2023 EI Nino may continue till March/April in 2024. The state experienced a long summer in 2023 reeling under heatwave conditions like never before and the upcoming summer is going to be harsher than last year, he added.

The effect of 2015 EI Nino was witnessed in 2016 and the state is likely to experience effect of 2023 EI Nino in 2024, he said analysing the theory of experts from National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

Similarly, monsoon may arrive late next year with less rainfall during the first two months - June and July. The rain will rise from August and the state will experience more rain than normal.
