Rourkela, Oct 18: Odisha Labour Minister Sarada Prasad Nayak has been again in the news, as he threw a huge amount of cash on stage during a Qawwali Night, organized in Sundargarh.
Enthralled by Qawwali performer Rice Anis’s stunning songs, Nayak reportedly flew currencies worth Rs 550 aiming at the performing singer.
Sources said, the Muslim Youth Committee in Rourkela was organizing the Qawwali Night to which Nayak was invited as one of the guests. Following the inaugural ceremony, Rice Anis performed his most popular qawwalies and enthralled the audience. Meanwhile, Minister Sarada Nayak stood up from the seat and threw currency notes towards the stage. Nayak showered Rs 500 notes for a few minutes following which he was seen handing over a few bunches of Rs 500 notes, to Rice.
The act of the BJD Minister has stirred controversies from the opposition parties. On the other Nayak's fanshave taken it lightly and said, it was an occasion of merriments where the Minister, being an admirer of traditional culture, encouraged the artist.
It may be recalled here that Nayak was earlier in the news recently for shaking a leg during a cultural event at Sunaripada in Sundargarh district as part of the Ganesh Utsav. The Minister, who was a guest at the event, was seen on the stage when the Hindi movie song ‘main hun don’ was being played. The senior BJD leader soon started dancing to the tune. Amid applause from the audience, Nayak continued to entertain those present at the event for quite some time.
