Bhubaneswar, Nov 4: The Odisha Vigilance on Tuesday apprehended a Revenue Inspector (RI) from Puri district while he was allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹60,000 for processing mutation applications.

The accused, Jiban Krishna Parida, serves as the Revenue Inspector of Bantalsing under Pipili Tahasil. According to officials, Parida had initially demanded ₹90,000 — calculated at ₹15,000 per case — to process mutation applications related to six parental plots.

After the complainant’s repeated pleas, Parida reportedly lowered the demand to ₹60,000. The complainant then reported the matter to Odisha Vigilance, which subsequently laid a trap. Parida was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe amount.

The Vigilance team recovered the entire ₹60,000 from his possession, as confirmed in an official release.

Following the operation, simultaneous raids were conducted at multiple premises linked to Parida to probe possible disproportionate assets (DA).

A case has been registered against him under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018.
