Odisha: Infant killed, four others critical after ambulance crashes into tree

Keonjhar, Jan 18: In a tragic incident, an infant was killed and four others sustained critical injuries after the ambulance they were travelling in crashed into a tree in Turumunga area of Odisha’s Keonjhar district today.

As per reports, the mishap took place when former sarpanch of Kantiapada Kanak Lata Mahanta along with her family was returning home after having darshan at Maa Tarini temple in Ghatagaon.

They were 2 km away from their home when the driver of the ambulance lost control over the wheels and rammed into a tree. In the mishap, one and half-year old child died on the spot and four other persons suffered critical injuries.

On getting the information, police arrived at the spot and rushed the injured persons to a nearby hospital. 

A case has been registered and further investigation into the matter is underway, said the police.
