Odisha increases assistance under BALIA scheme to Rs 1 Lakh

Bhubaneswar, Oct 12: The loan assistance under Bunakar Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation (BALIA) Yoajana of Odisha government increased to Rs 1 lakh. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has approved the plan for the financial year 2022-23.

The aim of the scheme is to promote the economy of weavers or alternatively to strengthen and secure the industry. As a result, the growth of the country’s economy will increase. Following the scheme by the Odisha government,  the weavers aged between 18-70 years in the state will be provided Rs 1 lakh assistance which was Rs 50.0000 earlier. 

Under the scheme, interest-free working capital in the shape of bank loan is being provided to the weavers. The scheme was initiated in the year 2022–23 under Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s special package for the weavers.
