New Delhi, Nov 22: China conducted a coordinated disinformation campaign during Operation Sindoor, using fake social media accounts to circulate AI-generated images depicting fabricated “debris” of French Rafale jets, according to a report by a U.S. Commission.

In its latest annual report to Congress, the US-China Economic and Security Review Commission stated that Beijing promoted AI-created visuals showing wreckage allegedly from Rafale aircraft supposedly downed by Chinese weaponry.

The report claims this effort was aimed at undermining international confidence in the Rafale platform while promoting China’s own J-35 fighter jets.

The more than 700-page document also noted that Chinese embassies “praised the effectiveness” of Chinese military systems during the India-Pakistan border confrontation in May 2025, using the narrative to support Chinese arms sales abroad.

French intelligence similarly concluded that China had launched a targeted disinformation effort intended to damage the prospects of Rafale sales in favor of the J-35.
