Bhubaneswar, Sept 28: Odisha Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling, has again urged the agitating nurses to resume their duties with assurance of fulfilling their demands.
Minister Mahaling further stated that a high-level Inter-Departmental Committee has been constituted to find a solution.
The ongoing strike by nursing officers in Odisha has caused significant disruption in healthcare services across the state.
The nurses, under the banner of the Odisha Nursing Employees' Association (ONEA), are pressing for a 10-point charter of demands, that include regularisation of contractual workers and scrapping of the outsourcing system.
Despite the imposition of the Odisha Emergency Services (Maintenance) Act 1988, which prohibits strikes by medical staff, the nurses began their cease-work agitation on Wednesday.
The strike has severely affected patient care, with reports of delays and disruptions in services at various government-run hospitals and healthcare facilities across the state.
The government has appealed to the nurses to end their strike and return to work to ensure that healthcare services can resume smoothly.
Although the government had previously assured the association that their demands would be reviewed, the lack of action had led to this escalation.
