Bhubaneswar, Mar 22: Odisha Governor Raghubar Das and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik condoled former Minister and veteran BJD leader Damodar Rout’s demise.
Governor Das said Damodar Rout will always be remembered for his extraordinary contribution to the public sector.
“The news of the demise of senior leader and former minister in Odisha government, Dr. Damodar Raut ji is very painful. May God give peace to the departed soul. I express my condolences to the bereaved family. He will always be remembered for his extraordinary contribution to the public sector. Humble tribute!” he wrote on his official ‘X’ handle.
Similarly, CM Naveen said Damodar Rout’s work for the service and betterment of the people will always be remembered and this is an irreparable loss in Odisha politics.
Taking to his official ‘X’ handle, Patnaik wrote, “I am saddened to learn about the demise of senior Biju Janata Party leader and former minister Damodar Rout. This is an irreparable loss in Odisha politics. His work for the service and betterment of the people will always be remembered. May his soul rest in peace and my condolences to the bereaved family members.”
Notably, Rout passed away early this morning at the age of 82 while undergoing treatment at a Bhubaneswar-based hospital.
