Bhubaneswar, Jan 26: Odisha Governor on Friday awarded the Governor’s and President’s Medals to as many as 50 service personnel including gallant officers of Odisha Police, State Fire Services wing, Home Guard, Civil Defence wing and Odisha Prisons on the occasion of the 75th Republic Day.
On a special ceremony organised in the convention hall of the Odisha Lokseva Bhawan, the awardees were conferred with the prestigious medals and services awards by Odisha Governor Raghubar Das.
On the occasion, four police personnel were awarded the President’s Medal, for their commendable services towards dealing with LTE activities in the state. Similarly, as many as 17 police officers including two senior IPS officers were awarded the President’s Medal for their commendable services.
Apart from it, 20 cops from the Odisha Police were felicitated with the Governer’s Medal for their phenomenal contribution during their services before the Independence Day 2023.
Similarly, a fire services personnel was awarded President’s Medal for his bravery whereas two others from the department were given special services Medal for their notable contributions. In the Home Guards and Civil Defence categories, 3 cops were awarded the President’s special services Medals.
Two Fire & Emergency services officials, who were to be awarded on the Independence Day 2023, were recognised with the Governor’s Medals. Similarly, 5 staffers of the Odisha Prisons were recognised for their phenomenal reformation and professional expertises.
Among other dignitaries, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Chief Secretary Pradeep Kumar Jena, Additional Chief Secretary Deoranjan Kumar Singh, Director General of Police Arun Kumar Sarangi, DG Prisons and reformation Services, Amrit Mohan Prasad, DG Fire Services, Home Guard & Civil Defence Sudhanshu Sarangi were present on the occasion.
