Bhubaneswar, Nov 7: The Odisha Government has decided to provide pensions to thousands of eligible beneficiaries who have been waiting for years under the Madhu Babu Pension Yojana (MBPY). The decision is expected to bring relief to elderly people and other eligible individuals who have not yet received pension benefits.
According to reports, the state government has decided to provide pensions to 5,05,817 eligible beneficiaries who have been waiting for approval for several years. Their pension benefits will be provided with effect from October.
The government has also simplified the application process to ensure that eligible people do not have to wait for years to receive their pensions. Applicants can apply by visiting their respective Block Development Officer (BDO) offices or through the official portal, upmp.odisha.gov.in.
In another significant decision, beneficiaries receiving pensions under the scheme will automatically become eligible for an increased pension rate once they attain the age of 80. The revised pension amount will be provided from the following month, and beneficiaries will not be required to submit a fresh application.
The move is expected to provide much-needed financial relief to elderly citizens and other vulnerable sections of society across Odisha.
Note: The Odia input mentions a programme scheduled to be held in Balasore on November 10, but the related sentence is incomplete. I have not included any unverified details about the event.
