Bhubaneswar, July 15: The Odisha government has issued an order to form task force in all municipal corporations and districts to avert fire mishaps in hospitals across the state.
Chief secretary Manoj Ahuja has issued a direction for formation of a joint task force comprising officials of health and home departments along with electrical inspectors of municipal corporations and districts.
The chief secretary’s order comes in the wake of fire mishaps in two private hospitals in Cuttack city on Saturday.
The task force would conduct periodical audit of fire and electrical safety in all hospitals and nursing homes within its jurisdiction, a release from Health and Family Welfare department said on Sunday.
For the health facilities under the municipal corporation, the task force will comprise the Municipal Commissioner as Chairman, Police SP/DSP, Directors of Capital Hospital, Bhubaneswar/RGH, Rourkela/CDM and PHO, Fire Officer, Additional Chief Engineer-cum-Electrical Inspector/Superintendent Engineer-cum-Deputy Electrical Inspector as members.
Similarly for the districts, the task force will comprise district collector as Chairman, Superintendent of Security, CDM&PHO, Assistant Fire Officer and Superintendent Engineer-cum-Deputy Electrical Inspector as members.
The Health department will provide a list of hospitals and nursing to the corporations and district administration. The task force will carry out the periodical audit and maintain a record of it, the release stated.
