Puri, Jan 6: The world-class shrine city in Odisha’s Puri is now on focus, for its attractive makeover under the Shri Jagannath Heritage Corridor Project (Srimandir Parikrama Project) which is going to be dedicated to the visitors on January 17.
To make the inaugural ceremony a magnificent one and iconically religious, the Odisha government and Shri Jagannath Temple Administration are all set to invite Hindu saints and sheers from every corner of the world.
Seeking the gracious presence of religious personalities as invitees on the occasion, as many as 30 teams headed by heads of mutts, temples, and monasteries along with representatives of the Shrimandir management committee and servitors’ Nijogs have been assigned to invite guests and dignitaries.
Among at least 1000 selected temples across the nation, the Puri Jagannath Temple received the first invitation wherein the Gods and deities presiding over the temple campus were invited as a part of rituals. On the day before it, the invitation cards were worshipped before the Shri Jagannath Temple with other offerings, which is customary in the Shri Jagannath Cult before the beginning of a new religious function.
On the second day, a team comprising senior servitors of the Trinity embarked on a mission to invite Lord Lingaraj, the presiding God of the Bhubaneswar City, and accorded invitation cards to the core servitors with bhogs and other essential offerings.
Performing the Deba Nimantrans (invitation to Lords and Gods), special arrangements were made for the formal invitations to the religious sheers, the Jagadguru Shankaracharyas. Accordingly, a team led by the Chief Administrator of the Shri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) Ranjan Kumar Dash set out for Ujjain and sought the gracious presence of the Shankaracharya of the Govardhan Mutt Puri, Swami Nischalananda Saraswati who is the epitome of the Sanatan Religion for East India.
Subsequently,3 different teams with the offerings of Lord Jagannath left for the Sringeri (South), Dwarka (West), and Badrinath (North) mutts to invite the Shankaracharyas seeking their gracious presence on the sacred festivity.
Worth mentioning, the ancient shrine has been bedecked with a magnificent allure fetching almost all visitor-friendly avenues around the 12th-century temple, to make it a world heritage under the 5T initiative of the government of Odisha.
The Shri Jagannath Temple Heritage Corridor, the all-new visitors’ corridor embellished with modern amenities which was taken up for transformation apparently in 2019, will be functional after a few days, following its charismatic inauguration by scores of sacred saints and priests.
