Bhubaneswar, August 4: The Odisha Government has officially notified the establishment of Additional District Judge (Vigilance) Courts in the districts of Puri, Nayagarh, and Kendrapara.
The Law Department issued a notification on Monday, stating that the new vigilance courts will be set up under the provisions of Section 3 and Sub-section (1) of Section 9, read with Section 10 of the Odisha Civil Courts Act, 1984, and Sub-section (1) of Section 8 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023. The initiative follows due consultation with the Orissa High Court.
In a parallel move aimed at strengthening the state’s judicial infrastructure, the government has also approved the creation of eight additional ADJ courts across various regions. These include Pipili (Puri), Ranapur (Nayagarh), Banapur (Khordha), Basudevpur (Bhadrak), Talcher (Angul), Rajgangpur (Sundargarh), Banki (Cuttack), and G. Udayagiri (Kandhamal).
All newly sanctioned courts will function under the Odisha Civil Courts Act, 1984, with the concurrence of the Orissa High Court.
