
Bhubaneswar, Sept 19: Odisha School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond on Friday said that the state government is considering a proposal to introduce Bhagavad Gita sessions in school education.
Gond shared this information in the Assembly on Friday while responding to a question from BJP MLA Sitansu Sekhar Mohapatra.
The Minister stated that the proposal is part of the Odisha Curriculum Framework for School Education 2025, which is being aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP).
Gond stated that there are proposals to recite the sound of Om three times, chant verses from the Bhagavad Gita, and include moral stories, prayers, and peace hymns during daily assemblies.
These initiatives aim to instill values and enhance the intellect of students, he added.
BJP MLA Mohapatra had asked whether the government plans to officially introduce the Bhagavad Gita into elementary and high school education to support the spiritual, moral, and intellectual development of children.
