Health Secretary Ashwati S. noted that sanitation drives, water testing, and awareness campaigns are helping contain the outbreak.
District Administrations have been instructed to intensify disinfection, especially near rivers and canals.
Over 40 lakh halogen tablets and 6 lakh ORS packets have been distributed in Jajpur alone. A central health team confirmed the outbreak is localized and not an epidemic, health officials informed.
The diarrhea cases, first detected on June 10, are linked to contaminated water and poor sanitation. So far, several deaths have been reported. Vigilance has been heightened, particularly with the monsoon season posing an increased risk.
