Bhubaneswar, Dec 2: Athlete Srabani Nanda was awarded a cash prize of 9.4 lakhs by the Department of Sports and Youth Services today for her performance at the 37th National Games 2023 held in Goa and notable performances in other sports leagues.
The award ceremony took place at the Kalinga Stadium, where the Minister of Sports and Youth Services, Tusharkanti Behera, presented a trophy, a certificate, and a cash prize of 9.4 lakhs to Srabani, recognizing her outstanding achievements in the 200m and 100m events.
Expressing his pride, Minister Behera stated that Shrabani has not only earned accolades for herself but has also brought glory to Odisha on the international stage. He commended her dedication, hard work, and reiterated the government's commitment to providing all necessary support for athletes like Srabani.
The event also saw the presence of her Coach Neelamadhab Deo and Physio Arjita Lenka, who were acknowledged for their contributions to Srabani's success.
Srabani received cash prizes of 5 lakhs and 3 lakhs for securing gold in the 200m and silver in 100m at the 37th National Games. She also received Rs 60,000 and Rs 40,000 for securing gold and silver medal at the 61st National Open Championship 2022.
