Bhubaneswar, November 29: The Border Security Force (BSF) has issued a stern warning to Maoist groups in Odisha, stating that those who refuse to surrender will face strict action, including encounters.

Addressing a press meet at Bhubaneswar, BSF Inspector General Shiv Aadhar Shrivastava said that the force is committed to making Odisha Naxal-free by March 2026, a key operational goal.

Shrivastava assured that the state government and security forces are ready to support any Maoist willing to lay down arms and return to normal life. He encouraged insurgents to surrender voluntarily, assuring them of rehabilitation and reintegration into society.

Referring to recent operations, he highlighted the killing of notorious Maoist leader Hidma and the ongoing focus on dismantling the remaining top Maoist leadership in Odisha and bordering areas.

The IG noted that 2024 has been a significant year, with 19 Maoists killed, 8 arrested, and 6 surrendering amid intensified security actions.
