Bhubaneswar, November 8 : Tensions flared at a government-run hospital in Jajpur district on Saturday, after the family of a deceased woman claimed that a botched sterilisation procedure led to her death.

The woman, Mamata Malik (30), passed away following a family planning surgery at the Madhuban Community Health Centre (CHC) in Jajpur district, Her family, along with villagers, has accused the doctor and hospital staff of medical negligence.

The family members brought her body with them, calling for stringent action against the doctor who performed the surgery and the ASHA worker who had facilitated her visit to the hospital.

The family alleges that the surgery, which was intended to be a routine sterilisation procedure, resulted in Mamata’s untimely death. The protesters, visibly distraught, voiced their anger, holding both the medical staff and doctor responsible for what they believe was negligence during the procedure.

In response to the incident, local authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the woman’s death. Meanwhile, the family remains firm in their demand for justice, calling for those responsible for the botched surgery to be held accountable.
