Bhubaneswar, Mar 5: The Odisha government on Monday announced to provide ‘Research Fund’ of Rs 1 crore per annum to each government medical college in the state to facilitate research work in the medical sector.
These funds are designated to cover expenses associated with research-related activities conducted by the medical colleges across the state. Specifically, SCBMCH in Cuttack, MKCG MCH in Berhampur, and VIMSAR in Burla will each receive Rs 1 crore annually. Additionally, new government medical colleges and SCB Dental College in Cuttack will receive Rs 50 lakh annually. PG institutes will be allotted Rs 25 lakh each per annum. This initiative results in a total annual provision of Rs 9 crore for research endeavors.
The funds will be managed by the respective deans, principals, and directors of all government medical and dental colleges, hospitals, and post-graduate institutes in Odisha. Financial assistance will be exclusively available for intramural projects and will be disbursed only upon approval from a selection-cum-monitoring committee established at each institution.
This financial assistance encompasses expenses related to attending conferences, digitizing research data, and publishing research papers, among other research-related expenditures.
