Cuttack, Aug 16: In a shocking incident, a girl student allegedly committed suicide after one of her friends secretly clicked her obscene pictures and shared them with her male friends in Mahanga area of Odisha’s Cuttack.
The victim has been identified as Plus 3 Science student hailing from Koliatha village under Mahanga police limits in Salepur.

As per reports, the accused, hailing from Gadamadhupur in Jajpur, had visited the victim’s house. Meanwhile, some guests had come to the girl student’s house with a marriage proposal.
Thereafter, the accused girl, on the pretext of assisting the victim in wearing saree, clicked some of her obscene pictures. Later, she shared them with some of her male friends, said sources.
After getting the obscene pictures of the girl student, some youths called her and started blackmailing her. They also forced the victim to keep physical relationship with them and threatened her to make the photos viral on social media if she refuses.
Unable to bear the blackmailing and fearing public humiliation, she committed suicide, added sources.
The family members of the deceased have lodged a complaint with Mahanga police in this regard.
Acting on it, the cops have arrested seven persons including the prime accused in connection with the case and forwarded them to court.
Further investigation into the matter is underway.
